Basements
Structural or water issues? Cracks, settling, eroded support columns, wet areas or wall deterioration? Help is on the way. Peter Maguire is experienced with larger structural projects. Likewise if your dampness problem can be fixed with a simple diversion of runoff away from your foundation, he is honest about tailoring the solution to what your house really needs.
1. Repaired Brick Columns
A brick supporting column in this basement had badly deteriorated due to water damage. We removed bad bricks and replaced them with new as needed, repointing all the damaged areas for a column that can now do its job with confidence.
2. Basement Walls
Refinishing of interior basement walls. Where walls have deteriorated so badly it is almost impossible and very labor intensive to repoint. In this instance we cover the walls with metal lath ( wire mesh) and apply 2-3 coats of mortar, resulting in a smooth even finish. This process not only strengthens the walls but also eliminates dust and further insulates against moisture.
